Nooo thank you I was not ready to leave 😦

I have officially made it back to reality, after a very tearful and reluctant goodbye. Words can’t quite explain it yet, but I will miss absolutely everything. The safety and trustworthiness of everyone around me, my new friends that I could have 5 meals a day with, the 24-hour daylight providing for unlimited freedom and opportunity, no bugs or spiders, the indescribable beauty of Antarctica’s dynamic environment, the fun in the evenings and the knowledge shared in between times, the comradery, the time-warped utopia that was my last month.
I hope that I will have the opportunity to go back, and I would so love to, but if that was my one and only time of being at Scott Base and in Antarctica, it is a treasure that will keep my heart full forever.

Today I must return all my ECW gear, and figure out a way to get the rest of my things back home to Whangārei tomorrow. I’m looking forward to unpacking the data that was collected, and seeing where the rest of this research will lead.
