Watching the last moonrise and moonset for the next few weeks

So the moon was feeling very shy for its final rise and set, maybe it feels bad that I won’t be able to see it again for so long… I had to try really hard to find it at both rise and set times, and to laugh at myself for how much convincing it takes to believe the moon is actually there and it’s not just a cloud. You could even be fooled that it’s actually just a smudge on your computer screen.
Last night, I estimated the general direction of its rising and was disheartened by the thick blanket of cloud across that whole portion of sky. It was so warm I could stand outside in just one layer of leggings for about an hour, watching and waiting and desperately hoping I could catch a glimpse. Lo and behold, she peeked out in the one sliver of blue sky between the mountain and the clouds – talk about right time right place!

Bonus seal pic, of course
