Pup waiting for mum to come back from fishing was getting lonely

This adorable little guy was interested in closing the 10m gap this morning! This pup was waiting for its mum to come back from swimming and came in towards me, and I thought, omg this is so sweet. Then it became quite comfortable and happy to have me as some company (?) and so I felt obligated to wait until the mum came back so it wouldn’t get lonely or upset again. After a while I started to worry that the mum wasn’t going to come back until I left! So I started to walk away and the pup immediately wiggled back over towards me, like it had imprinted on me. Then I started to get worried that I was messing up the natural system (lol) so I quickly walked off some more, but not before the pup showed me its vocalisations from the throat – was it trying to court me instead?? Feeling emotional to have had the interaction.
